PAEPARD II aims to progress from the current approach largely revolving around agricultural research for development towards an approach based on demand to nurture partnerships that will allow an increase in the quantity and quality of projects

Specific goal

A better more equitable and mutually beneficial cooperation for Africa and Europe in the field of agricultural research for development that is more demand driven to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Expected outcomes

  • Increased awareness of opportunities for partnerships in Europe and Africa for agricultural development in Africa
  • Improved mobilisation and coordination of European and African RDA stakeholders in areas other than Research
  • Increased knowledge about the possibilities of EU funding between African ARD stakeholders and support for the development of partnerships with the aim of increasing the number of high quality RDA proposals

The platform of African and European partnerships in the field of agricultural research for development (PAEPARD) promotes collaboration and dialogue between research players, farmers’ organisations, NGOs and the private sector in Africa and Europe around innovative agricultural research projects.  The research topics and projects resulting from these dialogues meet the real needs of African farmers.
